The Florida Hospital Cancer Institute (FHCI) provides a comprehensive continuum of services ranging from disease prediction and prevention to state-of-the-art detection, treatment and research - encompassed by educational, psychological and spiritual support.

The FHCI treats over 3,800 newly diagnosed cancer patients each year - more than any other program in Florida. The FHCI is accredited as a Community Comprehensive Cancer Center by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, has access to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) protocols and guidelines though it research affiliation with Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, and offers various locations throughout Central Florida.

ACCREDITED AS A COMMUNITY COMPREHENSIVE CANCER CENTER by the American College of Surgeons. Comprehensive cancer education, prevention, detection, treatment, research, and support services are offered at multiple sites throughout Central Florida.

COMPREHENSIVE CANCER SERVICES IN A 174,000-SQUARE-FOOT OUTPATIENT FACILITY at the Orlando site. This allows us to facilitate a multi-disciplinary approach to cancer care in one convenient location, enhancing accessibility and efficiency for patients and clinicians.

OVER 100 OF THE MOST RECOGNIZED & SKILLED PHYSICIANS FOR CANCER CARE HAVE JOINED OUR TEAM. These national and international leaders serve as Medical Advisors, Community Medical Advisors and National Advisors to provide patients with many different types of cancer the best chances for recovery and improved quality of life.

ONCOLOGY NURSING STAFF RANKED AMONG THE TOP 20 PERCENT IN THE COUNTRY for care and compassion, according to a recent Gallup survey. Florida Hospital Cancer Institute nurses are specially trained and certified in oncology.

CONTINUALLY BRINGING THE LATEST ADVANCES IN TECHNOLOGY AND THERAPIES TO CENTRAL FLORIDA. PET/CT helps us diagnose advanced cancer often with greater accuracy than conventional imaging. Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) is a treatment modality that minimizes the radiation dose to normal or nearby critical organs. In addition, over 1,000 patients have benefited from Gamma Knife® radiosurgery - brain surgery without an incision - since 1996. The FHCI also offers the newest MRI technology - Brain Spectroscopy - to analyze and diagnose tumors and other tissues without surgery.

LEADING THE WAY WITH MORE THAN 125 CLINICAL RESEARCH TRIALS and 19 dedicated research staff. This means that our patients are often among the first to benefit from new treatment options and state-of-the-art technology. We offer trials for brain, breast, bone marrow transplant, infectious diseases, leukemia, lung, lymphoma, melanoma, myeloma, neuro-oncology, pediatric, prostate, colon and gynecologic cancers.

ON-SITE CLINICAL AND RESEARCH LABORATORIES contain three major research components: hemostasis and thrombosis, molecular biology and stem cell biology. This features one of the FHCI's most unique characteristics: we are researching new ways to stop the spread of cancer while treating the disease as well.

FIRST & ONLY COMBINED ADULT & PEDIATRIC BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT PROGRAM IN ORLANDO. Our program includes the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit (inpatient facility), the Bone Marrow Transplant Center (outpatient facility), and the Stem Cell Processing Laboratory (a facility for stem cell transplant research). The FHCI offers adult and pediatric allogeneic (related donor) and autologous (self-donation) transplants.

SPECIALIZED CARE FOR MORE THAN 300 KIDS EVERY YEAR through the Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases. Expertise for diagnosing and treating childhood cancers and blood disorders, and all inherited and acquired bleeding disorders, including hemophilia. Access to over 50 Children's Oncology Group (COG) clinical trials.

THE GYNECOLOGIC ONCOLOGY CENTER TREATS MORE PATIENTS THAN ANY SIMILAR PROGRAM IN THE SOUTHEAST. Advanced technology and expertise for treating pre-cancers and cancers of the ovary, uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, vagina and vulva. Access to over 35 national Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG) clinical trials.

THE FHCI PREDICTS DISEASE RISK & EMPOWERS PATIENTS TO PROACTIVELY PREVENT CANCER through the Health and Cancer Risk Assessment Counseling Center. Includes analysis of family history, genetic counseling, molecular/genetic testing, and outreach services for unique high-risk individuals.

Over 100,000 PROCEDURES ARE PERFORMED AT OUR RADIATION ONCOLOGY CENTERS EACH YEAR. Treatment options include the latest external beam radiation therapy, such as IMRT. Also offered is High Dose Rate Remote Afterloading brachytherapy for pulmonary and gynecological tumors, prostate seed implants, and linear accelerator-based and Gamma Knife® radiosurgery. We are also the only comprehensive site in Florida for intravascular brachytherapy. Six radiation oncologists provide treatment at several convenient Central Florida locations.
